Longtime Canterbury Park Jockey Paralyzed In Ariz.

A longtime jockey at Canterbury Park was paralyzed in a freak accident at a Phoenix horse racing track. Anne von Rosen, who has ridden at the Shakopee track’s summer meet since 2001, suffered a severed spinal cord Wednesday when a horse she was riding at Turf Paradise collapsed, trapping her underneath.

Warm-Up Unlikely To Melt Much Snow

Justin Parent has crafted quite the technique for clearing snow off cars. At 169 Motors in Shakopee, he scrapes off 40-50 a day. “Getting a nice workout,” Parent said. “I’m getting tired of the snow, aren’t you?” The people we came across Monday would probably say “yes”. About six inches fell in the Shakopee area. A warm-up is on the way, but Mike Greasinger with the National Weather Service says we shouldn’t get too excited.

Sheriff: Body Pulled From Minnesota River In Shakopee

Authorities said they have pulled a body from the Minnesota River in Shakopee near where a fisherman was reported missing earlier this week. The Scott County Sheriff said crews were out near the area of the river and Memorial Park in Shakopee Friday morning and recovered a body from the Minnesota River late Friday morning.

Police: Missing Man May Have Gone Fishing In Minnesota River

The Shakopee Police Department is asking for the public’s help to find a missing man who may have gone fishing on the Minnesota River earlier this week. Rescue crews were out early Thursday morning looking for 37-year-old Eric Michael Lindquist. Authorities said the Shakopee native was last seen by a family member at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Authorities have released the name of a man who was fatally shot in Shakopee. The Hennepin County medical examiner’s office identified the victim Thursday as 32-year-old Aaron James Moran of Shakopee. The medical examiner says Moran died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Minn. Athlete Challenges Suspension From Sports

A Minnesota high school athlete is challenging his suspension from sports, saying a tweet about drilling his teammates was about tackling opponents and wasn’t a threat. Tyson Leon, a 16-year-old football player and wrestler at Shakopee High School, says the suspension from sports is hurting his chances of getting a wrestling scholarship to attend college. However, a school district attorney said in court Tuesday that his suspension was only for football and that he will still be able to wrestle, according to the Star Tribune.

Police Searching For Suspect In Shakopee Shooting Death

Police in Shakopee said they’re looking for a suspect after a man was found shot to death inside his home Tuesday night. Authorities were called to the 800 block of Prairie Street at about 7 p.m. Tuesday on a report of an armed robbery.
