Man, 19, Pleads Guilty In 13-Year-Old’s 2011 Shooting Death

A Minneapolis teenager pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the 2011 shooting of 13-year-old Rayjon Gomez. Donquarius Davon Copeland pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder. Copeland’s sentencing has been scheduled for March 24.

Brooklyn Park Police ID Officer Involved In Shooting

Brooklyn Park Police have identified the officer involved in Saturday night’s shooting, which sent a 22-year-old man to the hospital. Officer Jason Chadbourne shot Shoua Yang, who was involved in a large fight on the 7300 block of Lakeland Ave North shortly after 11 p.m. Yang was later charged with second-degree assault by the Hennepin County Attorney’s office.

Shots Fired, Squad Car Damaged In St. Paul Chase

Woodbury Police pursued a burglary suspect through St. Paul late Wednesday afternoon, with the chase ending in a car crash. The pursuit started at 4:15 p.m. in St. Paul, when the suspect in a Woodbury burglary case fled from officers in a vehicle, according to police. Officers followed the suspect, who eventually struck a squad car near East Ames Place and White Bear Avenue.

Man Suffers Gunshot Wound To Leg In Minneapolis

Minneapolis Police responded to a shooting on the 700 block of 21st Avenue North early Saturday morning. A man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg just before 3 a.m. Police say the victim was transported to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. There’s no word on what occurred before the shooting.

Son, On Killing Dad: ‘Relieved Not To Have To Deal With Him Anymore’

The 18-year-old man accused of fatally shooting his father in their rural Montgomery home told police he was “somewhat relieved he would not have to deal with him anymore.” Police said 48-year-old Richard Joseph Nelson was shot at about 10:30 p.m. on Monday at his home on the 10600 block of Le Sueur Avenue.
