The Minnesota Lynx are making sure point guard Lindsay Whalen stays home for a while. The Lynx signed Whalen to a multi-year contract extension on Friday. The 10-year veteran is having one of her finest seasons. She is averaging a career-high 14.7 points and 6.0 assists to help the Lynx to the best record in the WNBA (23-7).

Twins Sign Saints Pitcher Hamburger

The Minnesota Twins have signed right-handed pitcher Mark Hamburger again. The St. Paul Saints announced Tuesday the 26-year-old Hamburger has joined the Twins. He posted a 3.28 ERA in 21 starts this season for the independent league team.

Pekovic, Timberwolves Agree On New 5-Year Deal

The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to terms on a five-year deal with restricted free agent center Nikola Pekovic. Wolves president of basketball operations Flip Saunders tweets that the deal is done. Saunders and Pekovic’s agent, Jeff Schwartz, spent more than a month negotiating the deal, which was completed on Wednesday.

Vikings LB Bishop ‘A Kid In A Candy Store’ At Camp

Desmond Bishop’s first practice with the Minnesota Vikings was also his first in almost a year. The recently signed linebacker missed last season with Green Bay because of a torn right hamstring, an injury he suffered in an exhibition game.
