Man, 34, Killed In Snowmobile Crash

A 34-year-old man from Monticello was killed when his snowmobile crashed with a pickup truck in Silver Creek Township Saturday afternoon. According to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at about 2 p.m. on the 13700 block of County Road 75 Northwest.

Sheriff: Chisago County Robbery Suspect Flees On Snowmobile

Authorities are looking for a suspect in the north Twin Cities metro after a man committed an armed robbery and fled the scene on a snowmobile. The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office was called at about 7:34 p.m. Monday to Tim’s Country Cupboard in Center City on a report of an armed robbery.

Twin Lakes Man Hurt Racing Snowmobile In Iowa

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says a Minnesota man was injured while racing a snowmobile on Clear Lake in northern Iowa. The DNR says 29-year-old Tyler Hall of Twin Lakes, Minn., had finished a run as part of the Jack Helgren Memorial Race near Clear Lake State Park on Saturday morning when he lost control of his snowmobile. Hall had completed his run while traveling 75 mph when his snowmobile veered off the route and hit a snow drift. He was thrown from the snowmobile and slid about 100 feet on the ice.

Iraqi Interpreter Settles In To New Life In Minn.

After years of living in a war-torn country, an Iraqi man is starting a new life in Minnesota with the help of some American soldiers he met overseas. Twelve days ago, Khalid, known by American soldiers as “Phillip,” arrived in the Twin Cities. “Twelve days without any check points. Nobody asks me where I’m going, you know, all the security stuff. And you feel safe,” Khalid said. “The first three, four days [it] was exciting. First time to see snow, you know. All this nice weather, but now, I feel cold.”

Shafer Man Dies In Freak Snowmobile Accident

A 63-year-old Shafer man is dead after a snowmobile accident Saturday, according to the Chisago County Sheriff’s office. The fatal accident happened late Saturday morning at a residence in Franconia Township. According to a witness, Dennis Holt was moving a snowmobile that he was not familiar with, which had a left-handed throttle.
