Man Shot Dead In South Minneapolis

A man died Monday evening from a gunshot wound in south Minneapolis, according to authorities. Minneapolis Police were dispatched at 6:30 p.m. after gunfire was reported near the 4300 block of Fifth Avenue South. Once on the scene, police found an adult male on 43rd Street East between South Fourth and Fifth avenues with a serious gunshot wound

Firefighters quickly knocked down a home fire Tuesday afternoon on the city’s south side. The fire burned in a basement of a home on 5038 Nicollet Ave., authorities said. In the basement, a person was found and brought to a hospital for possible smoke inhalation. That person’s condition is not known.

Victim ID’d In Fatal Crash Between Motorcycle & Mpls. Police Car

The motorcyclist who died Friday after his bike collided with a police cruiser on its way to help out the other wounded officers in south Minneapolis has been identified. On Saturday, candles sit outside a church near the scene of the accident on 26th Street and Blaisdell Avenue. The scene was so bad on Friday that it spurred an impromptu prayer service for motorcyclist Ivan Romero, who died in the crash.
