Southwest Minnesota State University
It’s a sports story, but it’s much more. Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) basketball coach Brad Bigler and his wife Heather lost a five-month-old son to a drunk driver last summer. He would have turned one last Monday.
The 38-year-old man accused of driving drunk and killing a Minnesota coach’s son in Starbuck, Minn., this summer has been sentenced to three counts for three counts of criminal vehicular homicide or operation.
A Minnesota college basketball coach was critically injured in a weekend crash, which took the life of his 5-month-old son. Brad Bigler is currently in a South Dakota hospital, suffering from several broken ribs, an injured shoulder blade and a collapsed lung. He’s also grieving for his 5-month-old baby boy, Drake, who died.
The trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system have appointed two new presidents and two new interim presidents of system colleges or universities.
