The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding a missing man. Joseph Albert Briske, 45, left his home in the Hudson area early Monday morning without telling anyone.
Two drivers were killed and a third injured in a multi-vehicle crash in western Wisconsin on Tuesday. St. Croix County Sheriff’s officials say 34-year-old Amanda Day, of Osceola, Wis., struck a vehicle she was trying to pass on Highway 35 in Somerset Tuesday afternoon.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s office has determined that a woman found dead in Pine Lake early Sunday morning had a blood-alcohol level that was more than two-and-a-half times the legal limit. Police responded to a report of a one-car crash in Hammond Township near Pine Lake just after 5 a.m., but found the car unoccupied at the scene.
The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office says a 38-year-old Baldwin, Wis. woman was found dead after a one-vehicle crash early Sunday morning. At 5:03 a.m., the sheriff’s office responded to the crash at the intersection of 117th Avenue and 207th Street in Hammond Township, which is near Pine Lake, Wis.

A 22-year-old man appeared in St. Croix County Circuit Court Monday afternoon after he was charged with the sexual assault of a minor on Saturday. According to New Richmond Police, an officer noticed a vehicle parked in Woodland Creek Park shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday with Ohio license plates. The officer found two males undressed inside, and after questioning found their ages were 22 and 15.
Several viewers have been asking why the roads hit by the snow storm in Wisconsin seemed to be in better condition than those in Minnesota. “As soon as we hit the bridge, it was wet,” Kristine Glenna said about her drive from Woodbury to Hudson. “We keep being told that it’s too cold for chemicals to work, and it’s going to be like this for several days, but obviously something’s working in Wisconsin.”
One person is dead after a vehicle was struck by a train in Baldwin, Wis. on Wednesday afternoon, according to the St. Croix Sheriff’s office. The accident happened shortly before noon near a business on the 2200 block of U.S. Highway 12. A vehicle with two passengers left the business and headed north, but as they were crossing train tracks, they noticed an approaching westbound train. The driver attempted to go in reverse, but the train ended up smashing in to the vehicle’s passenger side.

A two-vehicle crash in St. Croix County has left one man dead and another with serious injuries Thursday evening. According to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s office, the fatal accident occurred at 5:24 p.m. on Highway 63, approximately one-quarter miles east of 240th Street in Cylon Township. Isrrael Romos of Clear Lake, 33, was driving a 2000 Honda Civic westbound on HWY 63, and for unknown reasons, he crossed the center line. A 1991 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by 46-year-old Daniel J. Rittman of Menomonie, Wis., struck the passenger side of the Civic.
A 59-year-old Baldwin, Wis. man is dead after colliding with a deer in western Wisconsin Tuesday evening, according to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office.
Evergreen trees in western Wisconsin – the Hudson area specifically – are dying. It may be related to the drought, but forestry specialists still aren’t sure why it’s so centralized. In Minneapolis’ Theodore Wirth Park, evergreens seem to be green and healthy. And the Minnesota DNR says they have not seen a dying evergreen problem on the state’s east side.
A 50-year-old Austin, Minn., man was in a Wisconsin jail Friday morning, authorities say, because he drove under the influence and got into a crash with three other cars.
A 74-year-old woman was killed in a car accident in St. Croix County, Wis. on Monday afternoon. According to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s office, 74-year-old Darlene Breault of Houlton, Wis. was struck on the driver’s side of her 2001 Hyundai Accent while leaving a parking lot In Houlton.
Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources believe a bear was killed while hibernating, and are offering a $500 reward to find out by whom.
