A man went missing briefly in St. Louis County Friday evening after crashing his car, according to police. Thirty-nine-year-old Jonathan Pruse, of Silver Bay, was traveling on Townline Road in east-central St. Louis County Friday evening when he crashed his car.
Police are investigating the death of a female resident of Stoney Brook Township, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office. According to the sheriff’s office, the female is a 31-year-old Native American.
St. Louis County sheriff’s deputies say a 16-year-old who didn’t have a license was behind the wheel of a car that crashed and injured the driver and two juvenile passengers.
Police say a Floodwood man has died after an SUV he was working on fell off its jacks and onto him. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that 55-year-old Gary Lee Keil was changing a muffler in his garage when the accident happened Monday.

A 39-year-old Chisholm, Minn. man was hospitalized after being stabbed early Saturday morning. The incident happened at a residence in Luna Lake, which is 20 miles north of Hibbing, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.
A 23-year-old northern Minnesota man died after a boat he was riding in crashed into a rock Friday night on Lake Shagawa. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office said the crash wasn’t reported until early Saturday morning, when someone on one of the lake’s islands called in.
A 35-year-old woman and two children were hurt in a rollover crash Saturday night in northern Minnesota, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities received a report of a one-vehicle rollover crash at about 5:05 p.m. in White Township, which is about five miles south of Avon.
A 72-year-old man is in critical condition after he was found unresponsive in a swampy area in northern Minnesota. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says authorities got a call to check on the man in rural Orr after he hadn’t been heard from for about two days.
Alcohol may have been a factor in an ATV crash that injured a husband and wife in St. Louis County Friday. The accident happened 15 miles west of Cook, Minn. on Highway 5, when driver Terry Treloar and his wife and passenger Joann were riding on a side-by-side ATV.
Three people are in custody after allegedly assaulting a man at Fortune Bay Casino on Sunday night. Nineteen-year-old Calli Padgett, of Virginia, Minn., 20-year-old Dalton Richard, of Virginia, and a 16-year-old male from Gilbert, Minn. have all been arrested for conspiracy and second degree assault. According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Tyler Bryan, 22, was lured to the casino by Padgett.
Two large pieces of the single-engine plane that crashed into Lake Superior earlier this month, killing the pilot, have been recovered. The victim of the crash was 47-year-old Alexander Georg Obersteg of Steinfeld, Germany.
Authorities say a major sandbagging operation is under way on Lake Kabetogama (kab-uh-TOH’-gah-muh) in far northern Minnesota.
The director of homeland security and emergency management for the St. Louis County sheriff’s office, Steve Steblay (steb-LYE’), says the lake level rose sharply over the weekend. He says crews are sandbagging homes, resorts and roads to protect them. He says a large percentage of the resort and private docks and shoreline structures such as boathouses on Kabetogama are gone or have been destroyed.
A Nebraska man died Wednesday evening when he fell out of a fishing boat into Lake Vermilion in northeast Minnesota. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call a water emergency call around 7:26 p.m. near Cable Bay. According to the sheriff’s office, the 64-year-old man was a passenger in the boat and fell out as it was traveling through Cable Bay.
Authorities in northeastern Minnesota say the pilot who died when his plane crashed into Lake Superior last weekend was from Germany. The St. Louis County sheriff’s office identifies the man as 47-year-old Alexander Georg Obersteg of Steinfeld, Germany.
