Minnesota Twins starter Kyle Gibson had only himself to blame for a defensive gaffe that led to a five-run rally by the Angels.
Minnesota wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson’s playing time has dwindled to the point where he had only three snaps with the offense in the last game. Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner confirmed the obvious Thursday when he said Charles Johnson has replaced Patterson as the starter at the “X” position once commonly known as the split end.
Mitch Leidner started four games, threw 78 passes and ran the ball 102 times for Minnesota as a freshman last year. He was still nervous for last week’s season opener. The Gophers were playing at home and under the lights, so even against an FCS opponent in Eastern Illinois, Leidner felt some jitters.
The quarterback carousel in Minnesota is staying put for another week. Christian Ponder will be the starter at Green Bay.
