“12 Years a Slave” is unquestionably an absolutely necessary corrective to any lingering sentiment regarding the antebellum Old South and, on a larger scale, the blood that lubricated the Great Experiment, so long as you believe no one is truly free unless everyone is.
British filmmaker Steve McQueen is coming to the Walker Arts Center in Minneapolis for a retrospective of his work. McQueen is scheduled to speak Nov. 9 at Walker Cinema. Tickets for McQueen’s talk and the regional premiere of his new film, “12 Years a Slave,” go on sale to Walker members Tuesday.
