NFL Suspends Vikings’ Simpson For 3 Games

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson has been suspended for three games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, his second such punishment in three seasons. The league announced the punishment Friday, putting Simpson on the sideline until Sept. 22 when the Vikings begin practice for Week 4.

Simpson Says He’s Sorry; Status With Vikes Unclear

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson says he’s sorry for the negative attention brought to the organization over the weekend after his arrest on suspicion of drunken driving. Simpson took part with the team in a light practice on Monday. The Vikings play at Seattle this Sunday, and Simpson said he expects to participate. But coach Leslie Frazier spoke in uncertain terms about Simpson’s availability against the Seahawks and beyond. The NFL suspended him for three games last year for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, and his case has again been placed under review by the league.
