Roughly a week after the Xcel Energy Center introduced some of their new menu offerings for the Minnesota Wild season, the Target Center followed suit. And if the Xcel was using whiskey as its theme, the Target Center was using choices as theirs.
Not a huge surprise — when you add a whopping 11 shows in one city, it’s probably only a matter of time. Still, Garth Brooks announced that his nearly two-week run slated for Minneapolis in November has shattered his North American ticket sales record.
If Garth Brooks stays in Minnesota any longer, he’s going to have to consider applying to homestead Target Center. OK, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but on Tuesday morning, Brooks did announce yet another concert date for the Twin Cities, bringing the total number of shows up to 11.

Minnesota Lynx fans have a chance to get some free playoff tickets for Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals Thursday night at Target Center. The Minnesota Twins have purchased 500 upper level tickets for Thursday night’s game, and they’ll be available to fans for free starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Minnesota Timberwolves prospects have started preparation for the NBA Summer League. The Wolves have scheduled four days of practice at Target Center before the team’s contingent travels to Las Vegas. The sessions include a free-and-open-to-the-public scrimmage on Wednesday night. The first game for the Wolves in the annual young-player showcase in Nevada is on Saturday afternoon.

Former Gophers standout Austin Hollins will take part in a pre-draft workout for the Minnesota Timberwolves. High school basketball fans witnessed March Madness at Target Center Thursday night as a pair of state tournament semifinal games ended with buzzer-beating shots that went in. Hopkins and Lakeville North will meet for the Class 4A state championship Saturday night, but both teams needed shots to go in as time expired to get there.
This week, Target Center and Williams Arena take center stage as 32 teams from four classes try to do whatever it takes to play for a state championship in boys basketball. The state tournament will have one noticeable absence in Apple Valley, ranked No. 1 in the state for most of the season.
