Wisconsin Town Says Goodbye To Marine Slain In Tennessee

A small Wisconsin town said goodbye on Saturday to a Marine killed in the recent attack on a Navy-Marine reserve center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. A dozen members of a Marine Corps honor guard stood watch as fellow Marines in dress blue uniforms carried the coffin of Sgt. Carson Holmquist into Grantsburg Senior High School for a public visitation Saturday.

Community Gathers To Mourn U.S. Marine Killed In Chattanooga Attack

Sgt. Carson Holmquist, 25, was one of the five service members killed in a shooting at a Chattanooga military recruitment center. On Friday night, friends, family and community members staged a solemn salute in Holmquist’s hometown of Grantsburg.

Wisconsin Marine Killed In Chattanooga Rampage

A decorated Marine from Wisconsin was among those killed in Thursday’s shooting rampage in Tennessee. Sgt. Carson Holmquist grew up in Grantsburg, which is about an hour and a half northeast of the Twin Cities. He had served two tours of duty.

A 51-year-old Tennessee man has been charged with driving to Minnesota to purposefully illicit sexual conduct with a 13-year-old girl, the United States Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.

Chattanooga New Home For Twins’ Double-A Affiliate

Chattanooga is the new home of the Minnesota Twins’ Double-A minor-league affiliate. The Southern League’s Chattanooga Lookouts announced Wednesday that they had signed a four-year player development contract with the Twins. The Twins’ previous Double-A home had been in New Britain, Connecticut.
