Today is Seniors, Kids Day & Minnesota State Patrol Day at the Minnesota State Fair. The State Patrol will show their helicopter, vintage squad cars, rollover simulator and more at the Expo Place. All-day discounts are offered on Mighty Midway and Kidway rides, games and concessions.
Today, the fourth day of the fair, is Minnesota Cooks Day at the Minnesota State Fair. See culinary demonstrations by Kirsten Shabaz of Valley Natural Foods, Paul Lynch of FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar, Larry & Colleen Wolner of Blue Heron Coffeehouse, and many more at Carousel Park all day.

The second day of the Minnesota State Fair is Governor’s Fire Prevention Day. There will be several fire education activities, including a Fire Explorer Challenge at Carousel Park, where young men and women will compete in events related to firefighting and lifesaving. Early Bird Specials will be available till 1 p.m. on the Mighty Midway and Kidway games and rides.
Today, the first day of the fair, is Thrifty Thursday at the Minnesota State Fair. Admission prices are reduced all day, and many merchandise and food vendors offer special Thrifty Thursday bargains for all fair guests.
Move over, vanilla. Step aside, chocolate. There’s a new flavor at the Dairy Goodness Bar and it’s sure to be a fairgoer favorite.
Now that the weather’s feeling a little more like summer, it’s time to start looking forward to “The Great Minnesota Get-Together!” The State Fair’s 2014 Official Commemorative Art was unveiled Wednesday on the fairgrounds. St. Paul artist Emily L. Taylor was selected to create the official artwork.
Every year at the Minnesota State Fair marks an anniversary for some food vendor, an exhibit and even a phrase. Be it 75 years or just 10 years, it’s the longevity of some of these attractions that make the fair so great. The fair’s slogan, “The Great Minnesota Get-Together,” sums up all the fun of the Minnesota State Fair. And though it may seem timeless, the slogan is much younger than the fair’s 159 years old. It’s only 35 years old, created in 1978 by an ad company.
This year’s Minnesota State Fair total attendance numbers are out – and it was a close one.
