A Minnesota man is in jail because he logged on to Facebook. Police say 26-year-old Nicholas Wig checked his profile from a home he broke into, and then he didn’t log off. It happened June 19 in South St. Paul.
A would-be thief who picked the wrong woman to mess with is in jail. Blaine Police say he tried to snatch Kathy George’s purse outside a Cub Foods on Tuesday. She is still shaken after the tussle. “It felt uncomfortable from the start,” George said.

Bloomington police are investigating after an early Saturday morning robbery at a McDonald’s. The incident took place at 3:30 a.m. on Nicollet Avenue as police said a man walked in, showed a gun and forced employees into the kitchen area.
His name is Joey Prusak — a name people all over the country are reading about this morning. The 19-year-old Hopkins Dairy Queen employee is stealing hearts all over the country after an act of kindness he thought no one even saw.
Joey Prusak of Hopkins is still shocked after witnessing someone steal cash from a blind man in the Dairy Queen store he manages. Prusak said while working the register on Sept. 10 he saw the blind man he was helping drop a $20 dollar bill. “The lady behind him picked it up really quickly,” Prusak said. “I had no time to say, ‘Sir, you dropped that.’”
A string of armed robberies near the University of Minnesota has police urging students to pay close attention to their surroundings, especially in the nearby neighborhoods of Dinkytown and Marcy Holmes.
U of M police issued a crime alert on Monday, describing two robberies that took place close to campus over the weekend. Investigators said they appear to be similar to four other robberies that happened in the past month — those were also close to the U. Some of the victims are students and some aren’t.
Minneapolis police and Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s help in solving a June armed robbery, offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information. Authorities said at 10 p.m. on June 23, 2013, an adult female was robbed at gunpoint on the 4200 block of Linden Hills Boulevard. Just 20 minutes afterward, a white female went to the Super America at East Lake Street and purchased $300 worth of gift cards with the victim’s credit card.
A female bank robber may have struck again in Minnesota. The Chisago County sheriff’s office say a woman robbed the Stacy branch of First State Bank of Wyoming around 3:20 p.m. Thursday.
The FBI is asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect from a Friday robbery of the American National Bank. According to authorities, an elderly man displayed a handgun around 5 p.m. at the bank on the 3200 block of Division Street West, demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount.
