Two Wisconsin men have been identified as the victims of a fatal incident in Lake Superior near a Minnesota resort. The Cook County sheriff’s office said Wednesday that 40-year-old Evan Alexander Johnson of Menominee and 66-year-old Wayne Louis Hoffman of Spring Green died Tuesday afternoon near the Bluefin Bay Resort.
One man has died and another is missing in Lake Superior after an attempted rescue at the Bluefin Bay resort in Tofte. The Cook County sheriff’s office got a call around 3 p.m. Tuesday of a man in the water. A 66-year-old who was trying to rescue the 40-year-old, then got pulled into Lake Superior himself by a large wave.
Five condo units in the Bluefin Bay condo unit on Lake Superior have been damaged in a fire Saturday afternoon in Tofte. The Cook County Sheriff’s office says the fire was reported just after 12:30 p.m. Flames were visible from the building’s roof. No one was injured in the blaze. Damage estimates have yet to been released.
A couple from Forest Lake died on Sunday after the canoe they were in capsized in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
