With only a pair of days still left until Christmas, analysts are already predicting a milestone shopping season for retailers. This past weekend alone added up to the biggest two-day sales period ever, totaling $42 billon. Of course many shoppers aren’t finished yet.
This year the Black Friday stampede will start earlier than ever. Best Buy , Toys “R” US and JCPenney have all announced they will open at 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. Target is joining Sears, Kohl’s and Macy’s with 6 p.m. Thanksgiving openings. Last year those four stores opened at 8 p.m.

Target Corp. said Tuesday that its pledge to match prices of select online rivals this past holiday season is now a year-round promise.
