The Buffalo Sabres have traded forwards Matt Moulson and Cody McCormick to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forward Torrey Mitchell. The Sabres also acquired a pair of second-round draft picks in a deal made just before the NHL’s trade deadline hit Wednesday. Moulson changes teams for a second time this year after the Sabres acquired him in a deal that sent leading scorer Thomas Vanek to the New York Islanders in October. In his seventh NHL season, Moulson is a three-time 30-goal-scorer, who has 17 goals and 38 points in 55 games this season.

There’s a baleful buzz around Big Ben and my beloved black & gold these days. Reports say that the mountainous QB is now a mutinous QB, demanding he be traded at the end of this season.
The NFL trade deadline has passed, and Jared Allen is still with the Minnesota Vikings. High-profile players with huge contracts are rarely dealt in this league, so the likelihood of him switching teams was slim. Still, he’ll be a free agent after the year.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have completed their trade for Justin Morneau by sending right-handed pitcher Duke Welker to the Minnesota Twins. The final portion of the Aug. 31 trade was announced on Saturday. The Pirates sent outfielder Alex Presley and a player to be named later to the Twins for Morneau to give them some extra pop at the plate and a reliable defensive first baseman. The 27-year-old Welker went 3-4, with a 3.57 ERA and nine saves in 48 appearances for Triple-A Indianapolis this season.
The Minnesota Twins have traded Justin Morneau to the Pittsburgh Pirates, sending the veteran first baseman to a playoff-contending team for the final month of the season. The deal was done on Saturday before the deadline. The Twins obtained outfielder Alex Presley and either a player to be named or cash.
The Kansas City Royals have added infield depth by making a trade with the Minnesota Twins for Jamey Carroll. The Twins will get either a player to be named or cash. The deal was announced after both teams played Sunday.
The Minnesota Twins have traded catcher Drew Butera to the Los Angeles Dodgers for either a player to be named or cash. The deal was done right before the non-waiver trade deadline on Wednesday afternoon.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have acquired guard Kevin Martin from the Oklahoma City Thunder in a three-team trade sending guard Luke Ridnour to the Milwaukee Bucks. The framework of the deal was agreed to earlier in the week, and the Wolves announced it was finalized on Thursday night.
The New York Islanders fulfilled a need by adding rugged forward Cal Clutterbuck in a trade with the Minnesota Wild and unloaded a bit of a headache in the process. New York and Minnesota worked out a deal Sunday early in the NHL draft that sent Clutterbuck and a third-round pick to the Islanders for fellow forward Nino Niederreiter, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2010 draft.
