Type 2 Diabetes
In health news, the percentage of U.S. adults diagnosed with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes has leveled off in recent years. That’s according to researchers from the CDC who looked at data on almost 665,000 people.
New research shows that if you have a lot of red meat in your diet it could increase your risk of type-2 diabetes. A study published in the JAMA Internal Medicine says researchers followed more than 100,000 people for four years. People who ate half a serving less of red meat a day reduced their risk of diabetes by 14 percent. But those who added a half serving increased their diabetes risk nearly 50 percent.
The common wisdom that breakfast is the most important meal of the day just got another jolt of energy, as the University of Minnesota just announced results of a new study that links the meal to a decrease in risk for type 2 diabetes.
