A popular Uptown bar has surprisingly closed its doors for good, according to messages left on its social media accounts. Overnight, the people who run Bar Abilene’s Twitter and Facebook sent this message: “Thank you Uptown! We love you and will miss you.”
A 37-year-old woman will be appearing in court Monday on charges she struck a man with her car earlier this month. Angela Jackson, of Minneapolis, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder.
Minneapolis police say a 39-year-old man was critically injured in an Uptown hit-and-run early Friday morning. According to police spokesman John Elder, at around 2 a.m., a man was on foot in the middle of the street near Lyndale Avenue and 26th Street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Lyndale. The victim was thrown into the air and landed “some distance” from where he was struck, Elder said.
