A Cottage Grove man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison for a woman’s fatal methadone overdose. Washington County Attorney Pete Orput said Friday that 20-year-old Adam David Wickard pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter. Wickard was immediately sentenced.
A Minnesota man faces serious charges after a missing girl from New York was discovered with him in Landfall, Minn. earlier this week, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office says on May 6 deputies responded to the Landfall residence on a report of a missing child from New York being held there. Upon arrival to the residence — located on 134 Dellwood Square S. — deputies made contact with the resident, identified as 53-year-old Michael Angelo Goerlich.

A 24-year-old woman was convicted Thursday of stealing more than $150,000 from a vulnerable family member, according to the Washington County Attorney’s office. Elaina Lorene Casello was convicted on multiple counts of felony theft and identity theft after stealing money from various bank accounts of an elderly relative. The theft occurred from Feb. 2011 till Dec. 2012, with Casello using the stolen funds to buy several items, in addition to paying her own bills.
Twenty-nine-year-old Adam McCloud died in October of 2012 after he was beaten at a Stillwater bar. Eric Richard was convicted of first-degree assault after punching McCloud at Smalley’s Caribbean Barbeque. According to the criminal complaint, McCloud had spilled Richard’s drink and later refused to pay for it.
