Man Sentenced To 90 Days For Trying To Behead Dog

A Twin Cities man was sentenced to 90 days in jail for trying to cut a dog’s head off with a machete last year. In December, 38-year-old George Nichols pleaded guilty to charges that alleged he attacked an 11-pound miniature pinscher, which he co-owned with his ex-fiancee.

Despite owing his victims more than $1 million, a Twin Cities chiropractor twice convicted of fraud again has his license to practice. Fifteen years ago, Randy Miland served two years in prison for a Ponzi scheme. He later served another three years for a real estate investment scam. A judge ordered Miland to pay more than one-and-a-half million dollars in restitution. That hasn’t happened.

Hennepin County has received more than three-dozen applications for same-sex marriage licenses under Minnesota’s new law allowing gay marriage. Minnesota’s largest county received 38 applications Thursday, the first day the county began accepting applications for same-sex marriages.

Police: Wash. County Shooting Suspects Already In Custody

Police believe the two suspects accused of being involved in a Washington County shooting that took place along Highway 5 near Highway 36 are already in custody. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, authorities found Vy Lai Yang, 37, at 9:28 a.m. on May 21 with multiple gunshots in the lower part of his body as he sat in the passenger seat of a car driven by Demi Marie Ferguson, 20. He was taken to Regions Hospital, treated and later released.
