A Nebraska man died Wednesday evening when he fell out of a fishing boat into Lake Vermilion in northeast Minnesota. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call a water emergency call around 7:26 p.m. near Cable Bay. According to the sheriff’s office, the 64-year-old man was a passenger in the boat and fell out as it was traveling through Cable Bay.
Officials in the southeastern Minnesota town of Hammond said Friday the city has declared a water emergency due to freezing pipes. Hammond is located just north of Rochester, about 90 minutes south and east of Minneapolis.
Two skydivers had to be rescued after they landed off the shore of Lake Superior Saturday, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.
Crews have responded to the scene of a water emergency on Lake Snelling involving two people Friday morning.
