Rookie Trevor May struck out a season-high 10 in six innings and the Minnesota Twins overcame Jose Abreu’s 35th home run, beating the Chicago White Sox 6-4 Sunday to end a four-game losing streak. Trevor Plouffe and Jordan Schafer homered for the Twins.

Kurt Suzuki hit a tiebreaking double and Josh Willingham added two-run homer in the eighth inning, and the Twins snapped a 12-game losing streak to Oakland by beating the A’s 6-1 on Sunday.
Kenny Perry scrambled for a birdie on the 18th hole Sunday to beat hard-charging Bernhard Langer by a stroke in the Champions Tour’s 3M Championship. Perry closed with a 7-under 65 for his second victory of the year and seventh overall on the 50-and-over tour. He finished at 23-under 193 at TPC Twin Cities.
Joe Mauer and Brian Dozier both homered, Kevin Correia earned his first win of the season and the Minnesota Twins ended their four-game losing streak by beating the Baltimore Orioles 6-1 Saturday. Mauer had three hits and four RBIs. His three-run shot off reliever Brad Brach in the seventh inning broke open the game.
The Minnesota Twins aren’t picky about how they get on base this season. And if the most-walked team in the majors can get more starting pitching performances as they did Saturday, the Twins likely won’t mind their status as a middle-of-the-pack team when it comes to batting average.
The 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs got off to a rocky start for the Minnesota Wild. Game 1 saw Minnesota with a two goal lead going into the third period only to see the Avalanche rally to tie the game and then winning it in overtime by a score of 5-4. Josh Willingham finally hit his first home run of the spring in Minnesota’s exhibition finale, and the Twins beat the Boston Red Sox 7-4 on Saturday. The game was called because of rain with two outs in the top of the ninth inning. Mike Napoli went 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs for the Red Sox. Jake Peavy, making his third Grapefruit League start, gave up one run and three hits in five innings. He walked one and struck out three.
Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau found the perfect way to celebrate their new contract extensions. Thornton scored his second goal of the game with 1:30 remaining in overtime to lead the San Jose Sharks to their sixth straight win, 3-2 over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night.

Chris Herrmann’s second RBI double of the game broke an eighth-inning tie and helped the Minnesota Twins to a 7-6 win over the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. With two out, Herrmann lined a ball into the right-center field gap. Center fielder Austin Jackson got a bad break on the ball, and just missed while attempting a shoestring catch. Doug Bernier scored from second to give the Twins the lead.
