Goin’ To The Lake: Liz & Lauren Visit Worthington (Day 2)

This week, Liz Collin and Lauren Casey headed to Worthington in southwest Minnesota, about 175 miles from Minneapolis. The city sits on Lake Okabena, and its downtown area is just blocks from the water. It’s the town where Liz grew up, and it’s also host to the U.S. National Windsurfing Championships.

A husband and wife were involved in an apparent murder-suicide at a residential care center in Worthington Friday evening. Worthington Police officers responded to a report of gunshots fired in a room at Crossroads Care Center just before 10 p.m.

15 Dead Horses Found On Nobles County Farm

Investigators found 15 dead horses on a Nobles County farm Tuesday afternoon. According to the Nobles County Sheriff’s office, the animals were found at a farm in Reading, which is near Worthington. Nine horses on the farm are still alive and in good condition.

JC Penney To Close 33 Stores, Including 1 In Worthington

J.C. Penney plans to close 33 stores, including one in Minnesota, as part of a cost-cutting initiative. The Minnesota store slated for closure is at the Northland Mall in Worthington. J.C. Penney announced Wednesday it will cut 2,000 jobs as the struggling department-store operator tries to get back on the path to profitability. The 33 stores will be closed by early May.
