So, what styles are hot for fall? For women, taking traditionally masculine styles - from camo pants to baseball hats - and adding playful, feminine twists is hot for fall. For men, it's all about playing with patterns - from florals to plaids to polka dots - and mixing and matching prints to create a unique look. And, as Minnesotans will be happy to hear, layers are in for both men and women. Read on for more trendy fall looks for men and women.

Women's fall fashions

Think sweatshirts are frumpy? Think again. Sweatshirts are hot, hot, hot (literally and figuratively speaking). From cute hoodies to hoodie-less sweatshirt dresses, Maryn recommends dressing up casual sweatshirts by pairing them with a cute pair of heels and a bold necklace.

While pinks and corals dominated summer styles, burgundy is taking over as fall approaches. Keep warm and toasty while keeping your style hot with a cozy burgundy sweater.

Leather may be too hot (literally) for summer wear, but you can expect it to heat up women's fall fashion. From fitted leather pants to pleated leather skirts to cute tops featuring leather accents and more, there are a variety of ways to incorporate the trend into your fall wardrobe. Maryn recommends pairing leather pants and skirts with a killer pair of booties.

From military styles - including camo-print pants and tees and army jackets - to sporty looks (think: baseball hats) to menswear prints and fits, masculine is in. Rock a masculine menswear suit for work functions or dress up more casual styles with fun accessories - from flirty scarves to playful jewelry - to make it your own.

Bonus trends: Leather, fur, monochromatic grays and booties

Men's fall fashions

Men can anticipate mixing and matching patterns and textures to create hot fall styles. Maryn suggests pairing a plaid-patterned button-up with a thin corduroy blazer. Don't be afraid to toss in a polka dot pocket square to really elevate the look, as well as playing with the color palette. And while women may be taking on masculine styles, men are encouraged to take on florals.

The season may be changing, but green is expected to stick around this fall. From vibrant emeralds to lovely shades of olive, green is a go-to color for men's fashion this fall. You can expect to see greens popping up everywhere from professional wear, from blazers to button-ups to more casual styles, including cozy hoodies and military-inspired jackets.

Men can make a statement this fall with the addition of a bold or playful scarf to their ensemble. Not merely a practical addition as the temperatures drop, a scarf adds another opportunity for men to play with textures, patterns and prints.

Bonus trends: Bow ties, vests, patterned socks and cuffed pants
