You cannot miss the 1,700 shiny green bikes perched on bike racks throughout the cities. This bike rental concept has grown rapidly since its launch in 2010. By 2015, bikers took more than 480,000 rides on a Nice Ride bike. This non-profit company added 20 new partners for 2016, which allows each partner's employees to purchase an annual membership at discounted rates. They may be a bit clunky, but these three speed bikes are safe, reliable and easy to use.

If Minneapolis is the most bike-friendly city in the U.S., Freewheel Bike, nestled on the Greenway, may be its epicenter. This is where the Winter Bike Expo and the Powderhorn 24 happen. Not only is Freewheel a bike shop, but a quick sandwich & coffee shop as well. Use the changing room to shed your office clothes and get into your bike gear. Get laid-back, biker-heaven rentals and service at any of three Freewheel Bike locations in the metro area, West Bank, Midtown Bike Center, and Eden Prairie. Freewheel has all sizes of Trek Hybrid 7.3 FX, Lexa SLX Road bike and Domane bikes. You can rent a Cannondale tandem there too. Freewheel Bike helped Nice Ride Minnesota get its start by partnering in the assembly of those shiny green bikes.
