Thanks WCCO! That’s my website design for The Wedding Shoppe – always love seeing my designs placed on other sites :)

  • red

    it stinks too!

  • Efreddy

Posh should have been number one! The Wedding Shoppe was the worst experience I could have imagined and Posh was way better than I ever could have dreamed of!

  • Katie

They forgot Angelique’s Bridal Salon in Blaine! The service is wonderful and you can rent your tuxes too. Everyone there is really nice and my dress is beautiful and only cost $630. I could’ve had it for $595 but with the slight increase in price, I received a $100 gift certificate so I bought some Spanx (haha) and my earrings. It’s a really great place and I definitely recommend it.

  • Greg Laden

Priscilla of Boston is considered to be the top bridal shop in the Twin Cities. It is a higher-end shop. Not sure why it was left off this list, perhaps these are bargain-shops.

    • Jen

      I agree, Greg!
Monique Lhuillier’s salon is not listed either and it is one of her two flagship salons in the Country. How on earth can they ignore that?!

  • LLK

If you are looking for a destination wedding dress no one beats Island Bride ( in Minneapolis. They have the perfect dresses which have just the right combination of formal/classiness and comfort/lightness. They also have a great selection of the perfect beach bridesmaid dresses as well as fun accessories! I cannot recommend them enough!

  • Unhappy mother of the bride

Wedding Shoppe has great sales people but I suggest you have alterations elsewhere. Their alterations staff are rude and lack customer service skills.

  • DAK

The Wedding Shoppe forces you to order your dress in a size you have never before worn in your life (usually two sizes larger – like an 8 instead of the size 4 you usually wear). Then, you are charged hundreds of dollars for alterations, so they can make the dress fit you. It is a total scam and rip off. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

    • GT

This is normal for any type of wedding gown due to they are not caught up to street sizing. So if you are a size 4 more than likely any place you go for a wedding dress you will be purchasing a size 6 to 8.

    • Jamie

DAK, a person’s normal dress size and wedding dress size are usually different. Wedding dress sizes are created by national wedding designers who then supply all bridal salons with size charts.

When someone orders a wedding dress, the bridal salon takes the hip, waist and bust measurements, reviews the size chart and picks a size based on the largest measurement. Since the dresses ordered are a standard size, alterations are almost always required to custom fit the dress. Most wedding dresses already need alterations so it’s better and less expensive to take a wedding dress in.

FYI – Wedding Shoppe has outsourced most of their alterations so purposely mis-sizing customers would not make any sense.

  • GT

Are you kidding me on best bridal shops in the Twin Cities for The Wedding Chapel in Crystal. That place is the worst, you don’t need to look far just look online for their reviews! I have gone there twice and was not impressed!

  • Lori

I’ve read these “best of’s” before and thought this was a very thought out listing. However, with the submissions you have, and the ommission of Priscilla’s of Boston, hands down the Top Shop , and Angelique’s the other Top Shop in the area, I will no longer believe what is printed and posted in this “Best of” section. Someone did not do their homework.

  • J

    Love the Wedding Shoppe!

  • N

L’Atelier Couture is the only shop here that I’ve seen getting a shout out in People Magazine. This isn’t even a contest. The others on this list are B listers…,,20478462,00.html

  • JM

One of the worst ones is… The Hope Chest in Ham Lake. Real bad service. They treated people like garbage. They do not like kids in their shop. I would not recommend them at all.

  • EmilyR

I found my dress at Luxe Bridal Couture ! They carry only plus size wedding dresses. Being a plus size girl (sz.18/20) I was dreading trying on dresses. I had been stuffed into to many size 10 dresses at other bridal stores and it was such a bad experience.

Luxe was sooo different, they had a large selection of gowns to try on and I felt beautiful in all the dresses…that was a first and it was AMAZING! I highly recommend Luxe, the staff is super friendly and helpfull, the service was the BEST and they made me and my mom feel so special.

They are in Minneapolis and all the dresses are a size 14-30. The prices where very comparable to other stores I went to $600-$2000.

  • Random

What about North Country Bridal in Forest Lake? They are the best! Nice to get in a shop who has been around forever but still keeps modern trends in house. Barb even ordered an off brand for me, because I didn’t want to order from another store! She is wonderful, as is all of her staff.

  • Joelle Thompson

North Country-are you kidding! They don’t even have their own store. They have a tiny corner upstairs of a floral shop!

  • sassygirl

I am a plus size bride and personally love Angelique’s in Blaine. I’ve been in the store both before I was a bride and since. They have a beautiful location as well as a very relaxing and lovely atmosphere. In reading the responses to the article above, it sounds like the Luxe post is just an free advertisement for the store. What really counts are the comments left by brides.

  • LadyLisa

I purchased my dress from the Wedding Shoppe! They can be busy on weekends but they have a huge selection and great prices.

  • LadyPhoenix

Another wonderful store that was left off this list would be Mary Kay’s Bridal! I went there for a bridesmaids dress once my sister found the dress of her dreams there. The interesting part is that the staff showed her how she could change around a gown to truly personalize it for her…I really liked how much attention they paid to helping her meld a gown into a statement. They were super friendly and helpful with us bridesmaids as well. We all received discounts on our gowns, they worked with us to make purchasing affordable (payment options!), and their alterations ladies were simply a dream (i later learned they win awards for their alterations!). If you are looking to support local family business, this place is a wonderful!!!
