CrossFit is a fitness program that has taken the world by storm with nearly 5,000 affiliated gyms in the United States alone. CrossFit workouts are typically 20 minutes or less and entail intense amounts of physical exertion to strengthen and condition. Activities usually include kettlebells, weight lifting, climbing rope and sprinting, among other things. These activities are combined into various combinations for ‘WODs’ or ‘Workout of the Day.’ The WOD is carried out in class or posted daily on the company’s website for individuals practicing CrossFit to get in a workout without necessarily coming into the studio. If you are interested in finding a CrossFit studio, look no further as five of the best in Minnesota are listed here.
723 W. 26th St.
Minneapolis, MN 55408
Twintown CrossFit prides itself on its free, private introductory session with a trainer where you can take a tour, work out one-on-one and ask questions. There is no pressure to join at that time and you are encouraged to go home and think about how the CrossFit program can work in your life. Another great thing about this studio is the wide range of specialty classes including ChickFit, CrossFit Kids, Beginners Classes, Workout at the Lake, Yoga Therapy, Olympic Lifting Clinic and CrossFit Mom.
680 Commerce Drive, Suite 110
Woodbury, MN 55125
CrossFit Woodbury offers flexibility with a varied selection of class times from early in the morning to midday and evening. What makes this location truly unique, however, is the special events it offers in addition to CrossFit classes like nutrition makeover parties and salsa dancing on Saturday nights.
1044 W. 7th St., Suite B
St. Paul, MN 55102
Timberwolf CrossFit is all about options. While many studios are closed on Sundays, this studio offers classes including open gym, free intro classes, yoga and multiple organized WOD classes for groups. It also has various pricing options and offers discounts to military, police, firefighters, students and couples who join together.
7600 W. 27th St., Suite 202
St. Louis Park, MN 55426
CrossFit MSP doesn’t offer a huge variety of class options or times. It instead sticks with the classic program design and regimen. Professional coaches monitor coordination, power, technique and other elements involved in WODs. No mirrors are in the CrossFit MSP studios either as these trainers believe your workout should be about how the movements feel, not about your ego.
CrossFit South Metro
3200 Corporate Center Drive, Suite 114B
Burnsville, MN 55306
Established by two former Marines, CrossFit South Metro knows the fundamentals of CrossFit and how to get the best out of its clients, regardless of their fitness level. In addition to classic CrossFit classes, CrossFit South Metro offers personal training, introductory sessions and studio challenges to improve fitness and nutrition amongst its clients.
