Best Egg Nog Cocktails In Minnesota

It's that time of year again, when the cool drinks disappear from cocktail lists in favor of the warmer spiced drinks that get us through winter. Eggnog is a staple of the season. Whether you grew up with it (virgin, of course) or are trying it for the first time as an adult, these cocktails take a classic and turn it into something special.

Just as the name implies, everything at this fantastic St. Paul restaurant is turned on its head just a little bit. A great, sweet cocktail for winter, and a variation of the classic eggnog cocktail, is the Flip Off. Made with rum and a whole egg, this version substitutes coconut milk for cream and uses Amaretto to give it the warm, soul-hugging flavor of eggnog with a new-age twist that will keep you coming back for more. This is a must-try cocktail any time of year, but especially as the weather turns to snow and ice.

Once the snow starts to fall and temperatures dip to to Minnesota lows, Mill Valley's cocktail menu will be the one thing to warm you up. The house-made eggnog is just the spirit to warm your spirits, as the warm spices, smooth flavor and that soul hugging warmth make it one of the best ways to defrost.. It's so good it almost makes getting cold worth it. Almost.

A food truck so good that it turned brick and mortar restaurant means of course you'll find a delicious meal worth the trip. Their cocktail program, however, is equally impressive. This might be the reason why their seasonal horchata is a winner, to be sure, and if you're looking for one of the best winter cocktails in town the horchata eggnog might be one of the best things you've ever tasted.

Known as one of the premier places to find spirits in Minnesota, Ace is a great place to find what you need to do to enjoy a classic just a little bit differently. Rompope, a Mexican spirit that is more or less a version of eggnog, can be found here and nowhere else in the state. Typically made with eggs, milk and vanilla, Rompope is the perfect soul-warming drink for the season. Great in a cocktail, Tom and Jerry style, or just over ice, you can surprise your friends and family with something so familiar and yet entirely new that they've probably never tried.
