Best Frozen Cocktails In Minnesota

It might seem a little funny that people from the state that spends much of the year hidden under ice would enjoy frozen drinks as much we do. But anyone who has enjoyed a beautiful summer here knows that we get plenty of sunshine and heat as well. And we sure know how to enjoy it. A warm day deserves a frozen drink, and we make each summer day last forever with icy cool and refreshing cocktails from these local bars.

Tijuana might be synonymous with party, but it's also about great food and culture, and of course, margaritas. This blended margarita stands out with its old school charm (the place has been around since 1964, after all) and this is exactly the type of place you want to find yourself at for an evening drink. The summer air never feels as nice as when you have that drink in hand, watching the sun set. But happy hour, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., when daiquiris are only $5 and there are plenty of other specials should be kept in mind as well.

A frozen daiquiri on a patio? Why not? And the sheer size of this 25-ounce daiquiri or margarita will soothe your soul on a hot summer day. Kick back and beat the heat with one of these. The daiquiris are sweet, but not sickly, and are sure to please if you're not in a margarita mood. With an extensive list of tequilas, though, you really can't go wrong with the tequila classic. Enjoy anything from Jose Cuervo to Avion to Don Julio to Patron in any of Ol' Mexico's original margaritas.

It doesn't have to be Cinco de Mayo to enjoy this District del Sol mainstay, and it doesn't have to be any special day at all to sip on one of its margaritas. Every summer day is vacation here, and you'll get the service, food and fantastic blended margarita to make sure you feel like you're far from home. Make sure to chat up the bartender, as you'll learn about specials and upcoming events, as well as other cold drinks that aren't on the menu. But in the heart of Minnesota's largest Latin district, you can't go wrong with good old fashioned tequila, house-made mix and plenty of ice.

While fairly new compared to the other venerable bars and cantinas on this list, the original Rusty Taco in Northeast Minneapolis holds its own. While some of the local chains stick only to cervezas, you can find one of the most refreshing frozen margaritas in the city here. Try a few of the different tacos when you come, and don't forget about happy hour. Enjoy a summer day with a blended margarita.

Whether it's for a birthday bash (some of the best specials in town for birthday celebrations) or just a late dinner to be enhanced by a few drinks, there's really no reason not to pop over to Eat Street and enjoy of the signature margaritas. House mixes and plenty of rum and tequila lend itself to one-of-a-kind frozen drinks that will make you smile and shiver at the same time.
