Okay, all these place for people with a Rockefeller budget. For the rest of us, JC Penney is great, especially for the Mom set. Herberger’s, Macy’s, and online, Dillard’s. Even David’s Bridal would be better than some of the places listed here.

Thanks for stating what many of us were thinking… the “haves” versus the “have nots”. I can barely afford groceries and gas these days let alone a “party” dress.

    • Me, not you

Thanks to all for not mentioning my glaring grammar. All these places are for people…Too eager to let the author know that these shops are our of reach for the majority of people.

Yes I have to agree with the first commenter. Not everyone is rich. Some of us have to shop at Kohls and the like. Please when you do these lists, take various budgets into account.

Nordstrom Rack. You get sooooo much for your money. Just got a Diane Von Furstenberg dress regularly $350 for $40! Oh, and the shoes to go with it…regularly $300 and paid $60. Can’t beat that even at JC Penny. Try high end consignmet stores! All the places you listed are so tired and so done! (Who does the deciding?! We are in a recession)

You can get good prices at Saks Off 5th, so there were options at price points that are a little lower. Plus, the article was titled “best places to shop for dresses to wear for a wedding.” That implies that the selection is the best at the places listed… it doesn’t at all allude to the fact that it’s the best place to shop on a budget.

My daughter got married last year, Macy’s right after Easter is fabulous for bargains, beautiful choices/labels at affordable prices. B-4 Easter probably fine too, but spendier. I agree with the woman above, Nordstrom’s is for those with a lot of spare cash, which isn’t most of us now. Hang in people, it will come again, of course maybe you’ll still want the bargain dress. It’s fun to get a great buy! I have three daughters, then I can share the finds.

The Goodwill and the Unique Thrifty, always has a nice selection. And then you can afford lunch afterwords!!

    • LSB

Don’t go to Unique unless you want to be man-handled by the staff and accused of switching tags on their clothing….

WCCO must be hard up for news coverage. I mean seriously, who cares?!!!???

  • JamieinMN

Yea, helllooooooo way too spendy. Anyone have recommendations for an AFFORDABLE dress for the bride???? I’m looking for any place BUT David’s Bridal. I have found a few places but would like some recommendations.

    • Me, not you

Yes, JC Penney online or even Target online. Yup, Target. One of my daughter’s is getting married this summer so like the Johnny Cash song, I’ve been every where, man, I’ve been everywhere.

Very reasonable dresses at Napier Bridal in West Paul – Only ones I liked and got mine for less than 300 a few years back.

When my son got married 2 years ago I shopped the clearance racks at the bridal shops and found great deals. I bought a wonderful dress that can be dressed up or down for other occassions and paid only $50. Check the out lying towns as well as the cities. My dress was found at a bridal shop in Albert Lea.

Von Maur in Eden Prairie has an extensive dress department and Von Maur’s customer service is top rate. Another sign that they have a great dress selection is that department is always busy !
