While younger generations may draw a blank when it comes to The Who, they were a popular British rock band that ruled the ‘60s and ‘70s alongside greats like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. The Who have had many hit albums over the years including the honor of having a concept album “Quadrophenia” (1973) serve as the basis for a 1979 movie. Since The Who formed in 1964, the band has undergone many trials and tribulations, not the least of which include the unfortunate deaths of two of the original band members, John Entwistle in 2002 and Keith Moon in 1978. Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, the two remaining original members, are currently on tour with a stop scheduled in Minneapolis this fall. Check out these rock legends while you can, performing hits at the Target Center on Nov. 27.

This year holds special meaning for the legendary folk rock artist Bob Dylan as his self-titled debut album was released 50 years ago, in 1962. Bob Dylan has undeniably been an influential figure not only in popular music, but in the broader social landscape as well. A countercultural icon, especially during the tumultuous ’60s, Bob Dylan’s lyrics highlighted important social and political issues at the time. Regardless of your age, it is highly unlikely that you are unfamiliar with such popular songs as “The Times They Are a-Changin,” “Like a Rolling Stone” and “Just Like a Woman.” At the very least, you should be aware of his significant influence in defying pop music conventions. This 71-year-old Minnesota native (born in Duluth in 1941) is currently on tour with a stop planned in St. Paul this fall.

A Minnesota native that was born and raised Up North, Minneapolis is where Christina Kalinowski currently calls home. Christina appreciates irony, loves bacon, enjoys a hearty libation (drink responsibly, folks), and is an avid proponent of the Swanson Pyramid of Greatness. Her work can be found at Examiner.com.
