Saturday on WCCO Radio’s new food show, “Off The Menu” Twin Cities Food Critic for Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine Dara Moskowitz Grumdahl shares her picks for a “Top of the Twin Cities” list. This Saturday, it was the top 5 Chips and Dips!
Cheetos at Haute Dish
119 Washington Ave N.
Minneapolis, MN 55401
It’s part of a dish Broccoli and Cheese dish but this is just a part of what makes Haute Dish a phenomenal spot. Yes, it includes their version of Cheetos. It’s classic Midwestern cuisine (think Tator Tots and they’re fabulous too) but it’s done in amazingly unique ways. Dara’s favorite “chip” in the Twin Cities are the Cheetos at Haute Dish!
Best Guacamole, Tie Between Masa and Barrio
1070 Nicollet Mall
Minneapolis, MN 55403
925 Nicollet Mall
Minneapolis, MN 55402
Both Nicollet Mall Mexican Restaurants do it the best according to Dara. Both make it table side and it’s fresh, creamy and delicious. A great summertime snack that goes great with a Margarita, make sure you are ordering the fresh guac at either of these downtown Minneapolis hotspots!
Nachos at the Bulldog Northeast
401 E Hennepin Ave
Minneapolis, MN 55414
Dara’s favorite Nachos in town come from a Nordeast Bar. It’s the Bulldog Northeast and their nachos are chef-driven and layered in the best way possible. Beef brisket, queso fresco, pickled onions and jalapenos. Served with guacamole, pico de gallo and cilantro crème fraiche. That’s a basket of fun.
Salt and Vinegar Chips at Buster’s On 28th
4204 28th Ave S.
Minneapolis, MN 55406
A cult burger joint in Minneapolis and they make “made-to-order” salt and vinegar potato chips. They’re the perfect compliment to one of their great burgers and there’s a side dish that might outshine the main course at Buster’s on 28th!
House Made Garlic Potato chips at Parma 8200
5600 W 83rd St #100
Bloomington, MN 55437
“Walk away from the bowl, walk away from the bowl”. Yes, this is what Dara has to tell herself when she’s at Parma 8200 in Bloomington and they are that addicting. You get them during happy hour, with sandwiches at lunch time and they make them every day. Just a little garlic salt and potatoes. That’s it. Made fresh and made to perfection.
