DEFEND YOUR RIDE: Jennifer In Cathedral Hill

Q: This is such a sweet ride! What are some of the adventures you've had together?

A: The biggest trip was to Madeline Island where I took it across on the ferry. It has responded to disasters with crisis response dogs. It was at the Minneapolis bridge collapse and the Hugo tornado.

Q: Wow! Working with dogs at the scene the disasters sounds like important work. What can you tell us about it?

A: We're part of Paws for Learning, which is a local, non-profit organization providing canine-partnered educational assistance and critical incident support service in schools and communities. The dogs are a wonderful connection to help people on their journey towards recovery and learning.

Q: That's really amazing. Let's get back to your vehicle. I bet it is perfect for less critical activities too, like say, a drive-in movie?

A: It's a great vehicle for that because you can snap on a screen and face backwards when the kennels aren't in here. It's a great way to get away, even when you are in the city.

Q: How long have you owned it?

A: I've had it since 1996. We've been through a lot together. It's seen some better days. It has quite a bit of rust now.

Q: We've all seen better days! Finally, what do you think is the best way to describe your vehicle?

A: It's a very simple "home away from home" on wheels. It's been through lots of journeys with me in life!
