It’s a little bit sad but I have nearly every song from the Broadway smash, “Wicked,” on my iPod — completely memorized. And yet, I’ve never seen the show.

Well, that’s about to change.

The multi-award winning musical is headed to the Twin Cities Aug. 11 to Sept. 19, making a triumphant six-week return to the Orpheum Theatre.

After two more-than-successful runs in 2006 and 2008, “Wicked” is back for what’s undoubtedly going to be another sold-out rendezvous.

I’ve always wanted to see this musical and somehow always seem to just miss it. When it came to Minneapolis in 2006, I was headed to Washington, D.C. for an internship. Then it came back in 2008, and I was living in oh-so-cultureless Green Bay. When I was visiting New York, I missed the “Wicked” tour by a mere four days.

But finally — finally! — I will have a chance to see the show that I’ve known the lyrics to for years. I’m getting giddy just thinking of the possibility of context — sweet context — to songs I’ve only imagined how they’d be performed.
