Fans going to Target Field this weekend won’t be seeing Wally the Beer Man in the stands. He’s been suspended indefinitely after being cited for selling alcohol to a minor.Wally “The Beer Man” McNeil was among eight vendors cited during a compliance check at Target Field on Thursday. Since none of them was arrested, it could take weeks for the city attorney to decide whether to press charges.

McNeil tells WCCO Radio News he didn’t ask for the man’s i-d because he was tall and looked at least 30 years old.   He says it’s the first time in 40 years he’s been cited for selling to a minor and hopes he’ll be able to return to his job because he loves it.

Fans are rallying around the infamous beer vendor. A Twitter account called Free Wally has been making the rounds, gathering supporters for the embattled icon.
