MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — I went trick-or-treating with my boys last night, like most of you parents, and it was awesome. I love it. People are in such a good mood, the kids are nice, the parents are drinking. It’s fantastic.

But last night when I looked at the giant amount of candy collected by my 3- and 5-year-olds, it almost made me sick.

I heard my mom’s voice in my head, telling me that all that candy is going to rot my teeth. And this morning when we started talking about Good Question possibilities, well, there’s nothing that I like better than fact checking my mother.

So: Does candy really make your teeth rot? How bad is candy? And how much does genetics play a part in cavities?

What’s your experience with cavities? And if you want, I’d love to see a video with you talking about all the candy your kids got. Put it on YouTube and e-mail me the link, we’ll use it in Good Question tonight at 10.
