Gophers Plan To Keep Giving Gray Some Time At QB

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minnesota will continue to rotate sophomore MarQueis Gray in at quarterback this week though senior Adam Weber remains the starter.

Interim coach Jeff Horton says he's hopeful the different look Gray gives the defense as a running threat can give the Gophers an advantage against Illinois on Saturday.

Gray has been one of the team's best wide receivers, which is why Horton has been hesitant to give him more playing time at quarterback in preparation for next season. He took the snaps for two series last week at Michigan State, but he also caught a touchdown pass from Weber.

Weber said Tuesday he had no problem with the rotation, that he realizes it's time for younger players to start getting more experience with the Gophers on a nine-game losing streak.
