Sheriff Recount Requested In Minnesota
WALKER, Minn. (AP) -- A recount is expected to get under way Wednesday in a northern Minnesota sheriff's race.
The Cass County canvassing board says sheriff's Chief Deputy Tom Burch leads Walker Police Chief Wayne Tennis by just 47 votes.
Tennis requested the recount this week, saying there's always the possibility of an error in the original vote count.
The Brainerd Daily Dispatch says the race falls within the half of 1 percent margin under state law to be eligible for a recount at no cost to the losing candidate.
