Wounded K9, Major, Continues To Improve

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Major, the Roseville Police K9 stabbed and beaten by a burglary suspect, is getting better every day, according to Roseville Police.

Major made it through emergency surgery at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center earlier this week.

He is now drinking and eating normally and is able to play catch with a tennis ball, according to an update posted on the city's website.

Major continues physical therapy using a stability ball to help strengthen his front legs. He still has no movement in his hind legs, however police are hopeful that will soon change.

Major was stabbed four times, three times in the head, and once in the chest. The German Shepherd also suffered blunt trauma that likely damaged one of his vertebrae.

The dog was injured as he chased a burglary suspect at a Maplewood business last Friday morning. Three men, all in their 20s, were arrested.

Maplewood Police continue to gather evidence before the case is forwarded to the Ramsey County Attorney for possible charges.
