Man Arrested For Chase That Reached Up To 100 MPH

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Deputies in Kandiyohi County said a man took them on a 10 mile chase that reached speeds up to 100 miles per hour early Friday morning.

Around 1 a.m., an officer pulled over a man on Highway 23 and County Road 31 near New London, Minn.

The 50-year-old man gave the deputy a false name and birthday, which the deputy knew from prior contact with him.

The deputy called for backup and when another deputy arrived, they approached the driver and asked the man to turn off the vehicle and get out. Instead, the man took off on a pursuit that lasted for 10 miles and reached speeds of 100 mph.

Officers were able to stop the car using a PIT maneuver and the man's vehicle went rolling over into a ditch.

Ambulance and rescue squads assisted at the scene.

The 50-year-old man was arrested for speeding, driving after a revoked license, giving a false name and fleeing a police officer.
