Weather Blog: Tough Travel

By Chris Shaffer, WCCO-TV

Wednesday is one of the busiest travel days of the year, and this year it could be one of the slowest travel days of the year.

Most of Minnesota and Wisconsin are under a winter weather advisory where we can expect a mixed bag of precipitation throughout the day.

I believe we start the day dry as the wind picks up from the southeast. We could see a brief window of freezing rain and sleet before it transitions to snow. We are only expecting 1 to 3 inches around the Twin Cities, but the possibility of freezing rain and strong wind will make travel slow and difficult.

Be careful. The snow tapers off by Thursday, but the wind will stay strong blowing snow around and reducing visibilities.

Expect a cold and windy Thanksgiving Day with flurries possible.

Early shoppers Friday morning will head out in single digit readings with wind chill readings below zero. Bundle up!!
