Moorhead Police Say Fight Drew Large Crowd

MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) -- Moorhead Police are investigating a fight at a bowling alley that drew a large crowd overnight.

Police say they responded to a report of several persons fighting, involving a knife, a firearm, a Taser and a shovel shortly after midnight Sunday. Officers encountered a large crowd they estimate at around 60 to 100 people.

Police say a 20-year-old Fargo, N.D., man was superficially stabbed in the buttocks. He was taken to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries. A 20-year-old West Fargo, N.D., man was struck in the head with a shovel and refused medical treatment. An 18-year-old Fargo man was struck in the head with a replica firearm and refused medical treatment.

Sgt. Mike Detloff told Minnesota Public Radio it isn't clear what started the fight, but it was between groups of Sudanese and Liberian residents who don't like each other and have fought before.

Officers recovered a replica firearm, knives, and a Taser at the scene. Nobody has been arrested and the incident remains under investigation.
