Lost Dog Reunited With Wis. Family After 3 Years

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (AP) -- A dog that had been missing for three years has been reunited with its western Wisconsin family thanks to its embedded microchip.

The Humane Society of Portage County picked up the golden Labrador last week as it wandered with another dog.

Shelter spokeswoman Jennifer Blum says few stray dogs in that area have owner-identifying microchips embedded. But this dog's chip led staff to the unidentified family.

Blum says the family was in disbelief that their Jack had been found.

The owner told Blum she'd let Jack out of their home to go to the bathroom but he never came back.

The Stevens Point Journal says the first night Jack was home he woke up the owner to take him outside -- exactly as he used to do before.
