CHICAGO (AP) -- Rylan Galiardi had a goal and an assist and Minnesota State, Mankato goalie Phil Cook made 34 saves as the Mavericks beat host team Notre Dame 4-3 Saturday in the first round of the Shillelagh men's college hockey tournament.

But the Irish responded with goals by Ben Ryan, Jeff Costello and Calle Ridderwall.

Galiardi tied it a 19:07 of the second period.
