Klobuchar: Shooting Won't Keep Me From Public Events

By Bruce Hagevik, NewsRadio 830 WCCO

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar said she'll continue her public appearances, even in the wake of a shooting massacre in Arizona.

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords remains critical. She was among 13 people wounded and six killed Saturday by a gunman in Tucson, Arizona.

"You always know it's a risk and you look at each thing on a case-by-case basis," said Sen. Klobuchar.

The Minnesota democrat said she has 13 public appearances scheduled in the next few days and plans to keep every one of them.

"You look at it and you know this is your job," she said.

Klobuchar is concerned about what some characterize as vitriolic speech on a few radio and television programs. She said people are listening and it's possible such speech could prompt violent actions.
