Man Pleads Guilty To July 4th Homicide

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 21-year-old man pleaded guilty Monday to the July 4 homicide that killed a 16-year-old.

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office charged two men in the fatal shooting -- Ryan Eugene Loyd, who pleaded guilty Monday, and Kenneth Lee Johnson, 17.

Anthony Titus, 16, was shot and killed near 29th and North Freemont around 8:45 p.m. on Independence Day. The teen was said to have been walking to a graduation party.

Loyd and Johnson were charged with murder for the benefit of a criminal gang.

Titus died on the scene of a single gunshot wound.

Loyd and Johnson are in custody at the Hennepin County Jail.
