Police Seek Suspect In White Bear Lake Armed Robbery

WHITE BEAR LAKE (WCCO) -- Maplewood Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man responsible for the armed robbery of a White Bear Liquor Store on Thursday evening.

According to police, a man entered the store, located on 2223 White Bear Avenue, with a sawed-off shotgun.

Without provocation, the man reportedly fired a shot into a display area. An employee of the store was struck with pellets, but fortunately was not injured because the pellets struck only loose material on his sweatshirt.

Police describe the man as Hispanic, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-11, wearing a black mask, black hooded coat or sweatshirt, red gloves and a white bandana.

Police are also seeking a 2001 maroon Jeep Cherokee, which is believed to be involved in the incident.

Police say it is not known if the robbery is related to other recent incidents throughout the Twin Cities.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Maplewood Police Department at 651-249-2600 or the Ramsey County Emergency Communications Center at 651-767-0640 outside office hours.
