Wis. Man Wins Ice Fishing Extravaganza

BRAINERD, Minn. (AP) -- A first-time attendee from Wisconsin caught the winning fish at Brainerd Jaycees $150,000 Ice Fishing Extravaganza.

More than 10,000 people gathered on a frozen Gull Lake Saturday for what's bill as the world's largest ice fishing event.

Andrew Schultz's Northern weighed in at 7.18 pounds and was caught in 11 feet of water using a minnow and a tip-up.

Schultz, from Dousman, Wis., won a Ford pick-up truck.

Gov. Mark Dayton became the first sitting governor to attend the event. He didn't catch a fish but told organizers he enjoyed the experience.

All of the proceeds are donated to more than 50 Brainerd-area charities. There were 724 fish registered this year.
