Packers Fans Spending Thousands For Super Bowl

Podcast

By Bruce Hagevik, NewsRadio 830 WCCO

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) -- Green Bay Packers fans are willing to pay a good chunk of change to see the team play in the Super Bowl in Texas with ticket prices ranging from $2500 to $10,000 at Ticket King.

Prices are a bit higher this year compared to past years, according to officials at Ticket King in the Twin Cities.

"It's not a secret that Packer fans are rabid," said Mike Nowakowski of Ticket King.

He said ticket prices will go up and down a bit in the coming days.

"It's sort of like the stock market," said Nowakowski.

He said the fact that two storied teams -- the Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers -- are playing in this year's Super Bowl may have pushed prices higher.

"If a customer is willing to spend, there are always tickets out there," advised Nowakowski.

Josh Anderson, manager of Ticket King near Lambeau Field, expects to at least triple his normal Super Bowl sales.

He says the cheapest tickets are $2,750 for the upper corner of the end zone, but they've mostly sold tickets between $3,000 and $4,000. He says the prices are so far in line with other years.

They've also sold about a dozen packages, with the least expensive being around $4,000 per person. It includes a bus ride, four nights at a hotel, tailgating before the game and the NFL Experience.
